Is this the coolest feature?

Problem #2 - Can't find the miniature you really want.

Have you been searching for a particular miniature?

A typical listing
Maybe you just need more Slann Warriors or Chaos Demons?
Had no luck on eBay or Facebook?

Cool Solution - The 'Requesting' listing.

It seems many people haven't noticed one of the most useful features of Shimrod Exchange.

You can create listings of type 'Requesting'! Just like this one

'Requesting' listings are totally free and you can create as many of the as you wish.

Top Tips for 'Requesting' Miniatures

The beauty of these kinds of listings is that they do the hard work for you. Just sit back, and over time let Google, Facebook, Bing etc. do the legwork.

As well as hunting in Facebook groups or eBay, these listings let other people help you.

Here's how it looks in List view

The site does a pretty good job of getting your listing onto the web. But there are some clever things you can do to increase your chances of being found.

1) Use a good picture. This will help people who are just browsing the site and will catch their eye.
2) Be specific in the Title i.e. include the exact name, the time they were made and even a catalogue reference if you have it. The more specific the more likely to are to get noticed.
3) Start with 'Wanted' in you title.. search engines will use this word in their display listings.
4) Be clear in your description of exactly what you want, what you'd be prepared to pay or exchange and where you'd pay the postage from.
5) Use multiple specific listings than one general one. Rather than say Dark Elves, 1980s for example. It would be better to have one listing for Dark Elf Assassins, another for Dark Elf Warriors and another for Witch Elves. This will make it much more likely you'll be found.

The bottom line is, be specific and add as much detail as you can.

Sit back and relax. Let us do the hard work.

Ten Percent is Way Too Much

Hello Miniature Traders!

I guess you already know that ten percent is what eBay currently charge for selling miniatures.

That is expensive. Madness. CRAZY TALK!

Its also really frustrating. Sometimes you have minis you'd like to sell (or trade) but frankly having to pay 10% on top of the PayPal fees is just crazy.

Facebook groups are great, but you can't always find a taker. Not only that, despite being careful, you may have been bitten by using 'personal' payments.

How to safely sell to people you may not know that well?
How to reach more people?

We (and some like minded IT colleagues) have created

And it charges Nothing! There are no fees to use the site.

Shimrod Exchange is peer-2-peer marketplace created by the gaming community. It allows gamers, collectors and retailers to exchange, find, buy and sell anything related to wargaming.

If you're selling it handles all the card payment and complicated stuff.

As well as doing away with fees we also wanted to offer a site where:

Its all about miniatures and wargaming.

Its open and free. You can list your own site and you can encourage people to use your existing store. We can happily do this because we charge no fees.

It promotes fairness and is community-oriented.

Its supports not just sellers, but also people who want to swap or look for hard-to-find items.

We recently completed our user testing and we got some great feedback. So we're confident we've got a site that's right for the you.

The next step for us is to build up a community of quality sellers. Join us today.

Even if you only have a passing interest we'd love to hear your feedback.

There are some tips for sellers here:
You can start using the exchange here:

The market is up and running so you can easily see the idea.

Free To Trade

Its with a great amount of excitement that I'm delighted to announce that Shimrod Exchange now charges no fees whatsoever!

Through a combination of our amazing platform provider, a bit of technical wizardry and use of micro-payment processing we are now able to remove all site charges.

I'm especially delighted as this has been able to happen much sooner than planned (I didn't even know it would be available today!).

This goes a long way towards what I hope to create. A fair marketplace where you good folks can happily buy, sell, swap or advertise without charge!

I wanted to create a site that provides what say eBay or other markets offer but without the financial overheads. Miniature collection is expensive enough and the community needs a marketplace specifically designed for us.

I really, really hope you'll be excited by this news. And please. Spread the word.

If you're a hobbyist, painter or small independent retailer, this site is for you.

(PayPal, of course, charge they're own fees, but that is nothing to do with us and these are the same paypal fees you always pay wherever you use it)

Full Beta Launch

I'm really excited to tell you that the full Beta version of our new Miniature Trading Marketplace is now live.

Its been a lot of fun getting this far and we think you'll be impressed with the results.

You can take a look right now. Visit the Shimrod Exchange.

What's it all about?

I am a fanatical miniature collector and painter. I love trading, buying and very occasionally selling them.

I hate using eBay. Often the prices are ridiculous and most of the time I'd rather just pay a price (I don't like auctions) or I'd prefer to swap something. Its expensive to use eBay as well.

There are loads of groups on Facebook that are useful, but it would be nice and much easier if all these great trades were in one place but still easy to reference in FB.

The Shimrod Exchange makes all of this easy.

A Cool Listing

Its Free.

There's no fees to list stuff, no cost to trade miniatures and no pesky adverts. You can arrange private sales but also sell as a trader. All you need is a free PayPal account. Although PayPal make make a small charge they essentially provide all the transactional safety for you.

How does it work?

Easy. Just create an account (a Facebook login will work) and then create as many listings as you like.

You get a cool listing like the one on the right.

Plus you can set all sorts of extra details.

A Listings Page

When someone likes what you're offering they can see many more details.

Great looking details page
We know you're going to enjoy it!
